Here are some great websites to help you out during your study of the Physics of Sound. Be sure to explore the sites identified as student-friendly before you send your students there.

Student Friendly Sites

Ask Jeeves
This site allows students to ask questions in a “student friendly” format. The algorithm used to locate the answers is based on common word morphology, allowing a “student based” question format that disregards many grammar rules.

Delta Education
This site provides students with specific resources and interactive activities that directly relate to the FOSS science units (Delta Education Inc. is the parent company of the FOSS publications).

How Stuff Works
This site is both student and teacher friendly, and offers loads of real-time examples and explanations for a variety of instances where levers and pulleys are used. There are plenty of drawings and explanations.

Aims Education Foundation
The Aims Education Foundation is a major curriculum research and development project that supports teachers in integrating science and mathematics into the curriculum.

Colorado Springs Hands-on Science
This site provides a comprehensive understanding of the FOSS Levers and Pulleys Unit and offers additional resources for teachers.
