Here are some great websites to help you out during your study of Energy, Machines, & Motion. Be sure to explore the sites identified as student-friendly before you send your students there.

Student Friendly Websites

1. Enchanted Learning: Simple Machines –Levers

Students can read more about different classes of levers. Simple animations allow the students to see the location of the effort, load and fulcrums. Students will also see charts of everyday items that fit into the three classes of levers.

2. Discovery Kids

Students can work in teams to create a roller coaster with the greatest “fear factor.” The simulation is easy for students to quickly build and test roller coasters. Students get immediate feedback of how thrilling their ride is to the rider!

Students can use this site to access many websites collected by the publisher of Energy, Machines and Motion. Students can access information about power and energy along with websites dedicated to various scientists associated with energy.

4. Edheads: Activate Your Mind

Students can review concepts of simple machines through interactive activities.

5. Energy Quest

Students can explore a number of topics around energy. Students can read the energy story that entails over 20 topics from the definition of energy to energy from different sources.

Teacher-Friendly Websites

This teacher friendly site has both resources that include supplemental literacy lists and additional websites that your students can use to enhance their understanding of the three parts of Energy, Machine and Motion. There are also additional photos of stunts engaged in this unit.
