Instructional Materials Support

Washington State LASER provides a central resource for information about inquiry-based instructional materials in use throughout Washington.

Science Materials Centers: Materials Support is one of the five elements of Washington State Leadership and Assistance for Science Education Reform (LASER). The ongoing support of Science Materials Centers' personnel has helped research-based science teaching and learning reach the current level of prevalence in Washington State and beyond.

Toolkits: The toolkits have been written by expert teachers who have used the materials numerous times.  Each toolkit has been vetted and reviewed by a content specialist.  The older toolkits are aligned with the 2005 Science K-10 Grade Level Expectations.  Newer toolkits have been aligned with the 2010 Science K-12 Learning Standards.

The toolkits are not intended to replace the published teacher’s guide, but rather to supplement that guide with Washington State alignment information and classroom tips from an experienced Washington State teacher.

Washington State GLE Alignments: Instructional materials from a variety of publishers have been aligned to the Washington State Grade Level Expectations by science specialists and teacher leaders from around the state.
