The South Sound Washington LASER Alliance is a collaboration between eight Pierce County School Districts (Bethel, Clover Park, Franklin Pierce, Puyallup, Steilacoom, Sumner, Tacoma, White River). The Alliance supports high quality standards based science instructional materials by providing the infrastructure for professional development of teachers and logistics and management support for Alliance districts.
The South Sound Alliance serves school districts in Pierce county, serving over 100,000 students and approximately 10% of the student population of Washington state.
Intel, Boeing and Washington State LASER are regular supporters of our programs.
The Alliance is housed at the Tacoma Public Schools Science Materials Resource Center, 6501 N. 23 rd Street, Tacoma.
From I-5, take the Highway 16 exit toward Gig Harbor/Bremerton. Take the 6 th Avenue exit off of Highway 16. Turn left onto 6 th Avenue at the light, and the first right onto Pearl Street. Follow Pearl Street north to north 21 st Street and turn left. Head west on N. 21 st (which becomes Westlake Avenue ) and take the third right onto Vassault. Turn left on north 23 rd . The SMRC is on your right.
