What is the Strategic Planning Institute?

Helping School Districts Initiate and Implement Science Education Programs that Align with Washington's Essential Academic Learning Requirements

What is the Strategic Planning Institute?

Through a six-day program of interactive workshops and discussions, leadership teams will:

  • Construct models for developing and sustaining a corps of leaders who will spearhead science education reform in their communities.
  • Assess the best use of state, regional, and national resources for implementing an inquiry- centered K-12 science program.
  • Develop five-year strategic plans to reform K-12 science education in their districts in collaboration with nationally recognized experts and members of other teams.
  • Understand how science enhances student skills in reading, writing, communications, and mathematics.

Why Attend?

Based on the work of the National Science Resources Center (NSRC), the Institute will help prepare school district leaders to implement hands-on, inquiry-centered science programs and to bring about systemic reform of science education.
