2006/2007 Science Education Advocate Award Recipients

2006/2007 was the inaugural year of the Science Education Advocate Awards.

The 2006/2007 Science Education Advocate Award was given to two organizations, two individuals and one team.

In addition to receiving recognition at statewide and local events, these five awardees were given $5,000 each to be awarded to the not-for-profit organization or public education entity of their choice for use in its efforts on behalf of science education. The monetary reward as well as funding for the awards process was generously supplied by the Boeing Company.

The five awardees are listed below along with the recipient of their $5,000 donation. Individual Awards

 

Dr. Lee Hood

Director, Institute for Systems Biology

 

Valerie Logan

Community Liaison and Fund Developer, Center for Inquiry Science at the Institute for Systems Biology

Dr. Hood and Ms. Logan's $5,000 donation will be awarded to: The Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, Washington.

 

 

Dr.John "Skip" Paznokas

Director, Washington State University Science Math Engineering Education Center (SMEEC)

 

Dr. Paznokas's $5,000 donation will be awarded to: Science Math Engineering Education Center (SMEEC)

 

 

 

Peggy Willcuts

Elementary Science Coordinator/Science Specialist, Walla Walla Public Schools

 

Ms. Willcuts's $5,000 donation will be awarded to: Walla Walla School District

American Electronics Association (AeA)
Electronics Education Foundation

AeA's $5,000 Donation will be awarded to: AeA Electronics Education Foundation for math, science, and engineering education activities in Washington State.


 
LIGO Hanford Observatory

LIGO Hanford Observatory's $5,000 Donation will be awarded to: LIGO Hanford Observatory to support transportation expenses for field trips to the observatory
